Graduation Party Planning Tipsmichigan party rental12

An open house graduation party is a great way to celebrate a graduation, whether it is from preschool, high school, or college. Total Party Planning is here to offer some helpful tips for planning an open house graduation party with regards to judging the crowd size,  how to plan for the right amount of food, and most of all to make it easy for you.

Event Date: Many graduation parties occur during the summer weekends which can mean lots of parties can fall on the same day! Keep in mind from June to August there are 12 weekends in which to choose. To avoid overlapping parties, plan ahead! Ask your family and friends what date they are organizing their party. Total Party Planning can help you book the best date.

Invitations: RSVP invitations are a great way to figure out the number guests you can expect. If you do “regret only invitations,” many potentienal guests may forget to let the host know they can’t attend. If guests RSVP, most of the time you can expect that they really will come to the party. An "open house" graduation party allows guests to come and go at any time during the event, but it is still acceptable to ask for RSVPs.

Location: Now that you have calculated the total number of guests going to invite and have figured out the perfect date the next decision is location. The most popular choice is at home or backyard. Some choose to have their party at a hall or clubhouse. Some plan on having their party in the commons area in their subdivision or at a nearby park or picnic area. When deciding your location, try to keep in mind how much square footage is available.  This will be one of the first questions when calling the rental company for the tent, tables, and chairs.

Tent ,Tables, and Chairs: Tents are a great way to provide shade on a sunny day and protection from the wind and rain. Tents create a fun atmosphere for your event. Figuring out what size tent you need is easy. There are a few variables to determine.

  1. What surface will the tent be placed on. Were you thinking on grass in the middle of the yard or perhaps over a concrete driveway or patio?
  2. How many guests do you plan to invite.
  3. Will your party be an “open house” event where your guest will come and go through the day or will they be there all at once?
  4. Do you prefer round tables under the tent or rectangular banquet tables under the tent.

Food: The most convenient way to serve your guests when hosting a graduation open house is with a buffet. It's important to recognize that with an open house, guests will not all eat at the same time. It's best to serve items that do not need to be heated like cold cuts and various salads. Also, keep in mind if any of your guests have food allergies. Offering a variety of food is a sure way to make all guests happy. As for quantities, a good estimate is that each person will eat 3-4 servings of each type of appetizer, 5-6 ounces of meat, handful of vegetables, and one full portion of dessert.
